On November 17, 2015, the Georgetown University and DC entrepreneurial community came together for Startup Hoyas’s annual Rocket Pitch Competition, sponsored by MeetMe and EchoUser. 29 groups of spirited students from Georgetown’s undergraduate, graduate, medical, and law school each had two minutes per group to pitch an idea to a panel of 16 experienced judges, including a number of entrepreneurs-in-residence.
The lively night consisted of pitches, networking, and a keynote speech on the intersection of tech and finance delivered by Hoya alum Sanjay Jain, Managing Director & Global Head of Software of Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan.
Contestant ideas varied across digital to construction to food industries and beyond. Taking home first place and $1000 was Eric Wu with his pitch of Audio Fork, an voice command and community oriented app designed to help home cooks. Scott Goldstein‘s Smart Toilet, an environmentally and cost driven sustainable toilet, won second place of $500. The recipients of the $250 People’s Choice award were Kamar Mack and Dara Ladjevardian with One Touch, a social impact oriented app.
